Breckenridge Engagement Photographer | Proposal at Sapphire Point

Breckenridge Proposal at Sapphire Point Overlook

As a Breckenridge engagement photographer, this surprise proposal at Sapphire Point was so fun to be a part of!  Sapphire Point Overlook is a well-known spot near Breckenridge, Colorado. This Texas couple came with friends to Breckenridge for a summer vacation and got engaged during their trip!

Shane reached out to me about planning his Breckenridge Proposal to his long time girlfriend, Carly. He wanted a spot with gorgeous mountain views that was near Breckenridge. Sapphire Point Overlook was the perfect spot. Shane also wanted to include their friends that they traveled with.

Day of the proposal, Shane and his friends arrived at the location early. We scoped out where he wanted to propose. Soon after, Carly and her friends arrived and walked with her to the spot you’ll see below. Shane proposed and everyone gave them space to have a private moment together. Then the celebrating began! Carly hugged her friends and showed off her new engagement ring. Next, we did photos of the entire friend group and several of the newly engaged couple too. After the initial photos we walked to another spot that provided even better views of the mountain landscape and Lake Dillon.

Here are steps to think about when planning your Breckenridge Proposal at Sapphire Point Overlook:

  • Decide what day and time you’d like to propose.
  • Find a location and a photographer if you’d like the proposal photographed.
  • Talk with your photographer about your expectation and vision for the proposal. Do you want to do a photo session and propose during? Or do you want more of a surprise proposal and your photographer to be hidden and ready to capture it? Is a private, secluded location ideal? Will there be other people there or involved?
  • What’s your plan for getting your significant other to the location?
  • Nail down the logistics of your proposal: time, date, place. Sapphire Point Overlook is a really popular spot for tourists to check out. Consider proposing on a week day for a better chance of less people being around.
  • If using Sapphire Point Overlook, be prepared for the actual overlook spot to be taken or to be busy with tourists. If you walk around the trail you’ll find other options that are more private and gorgeous too.

Planning the perfect Colorado mountain proposal is possible with some thought and help!
